We try to take a kid out each week, just one parent and one kid. Sometimes it is just a trip to the store, to run an errand or something like that. Other times, we try to take them somewhere and get to know them more. They don't seem to care where we are heading, just that they are getting some much needed one-on-one time.
Here is my beautiful 2 year old and I having a drink at Starbucks and a chat. I think she did all the talking! It is amazing what they have to say when you get them away from the chatter and noise of the house.
I have had the same experience! One year I scheduled a walk with some younger ones every day. And, one that I thought was quiet became really talkative all of a sudden when there was no one else to interupt him!

She sure looks very mature in that photo. My how time has flown.
